We really enjoyed the food here! Well set up for families too, the playroom was great with our little ones. Great spot.
Great old pub in a fantastic spot with friendly staff, lovely fireplace going, fantastic kids' area. Our meals were yum and the sizes nice and generous. We were very pleased with our visit and would definitely go back!
Hidden Gem. Free RV parking "for patrons", close to Port Authur. The food was incredible and the staff are lovely. Highly recommend. Thankyou.
We stopped here to have a couple of drinks, I wish we had time to stay for dinner, the food looked great. Friendly atmosphere and beautiful scenery.
Good to have a nice meal...pub seems to be heading back to what it once was, definitely will be back.
Monday 30 December 2024. 2 of us had bangers n mash at the bar, bloody lovely!! Great friendly service! Very busy. Big TV, Keno, TAB. Outside tables. Lots of parking.
Fantastic pub, meals were delicious, the staff exceptional. Second time here will definitely be back again and again ⭐️Well done guysOysters, burgers and chicken parmigiana
The steak is juicy and perfectly cooked to my requested medium-rare. The linguine is generously packed with seafood. We are very satisfied with our dinner.
I came in with some friends and Tobias took excellent care of us. Made sure our drinks were full, had good banter, gave us some good recommendations etc.
We returned here two nights in a row on our holiday because we enjoyed it so much! The service couldn’t be friendlier or more attentive, the food is delicious, and the value for money is solid.
Awesome venue for dinner. Very friendly staff and great food
Fun local tavern with a lively crowd. Good lagers on tap. Great roadside stop for a pint
Service and food absolutely exceptional. Sandy looked after us very well. Great smile, great energy and very service focused. Thanks Sandy. You made our experience five star!
Awesome place to eat & free camping. Thanks Anitra & Sandy for your excellent service and friendly manner.
Stopped here to have lunch. The food was all great quality and - as with everyone we've come across in Tasmania - the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One of the ladies there told us the caravan parking spot next door is available to stay at for free and campers can even use the hotel's amenities for free during opening hours. The atmosphere was quiet when we were there.
Great food, friendly atmosphere and a good variety in the menu. Seafood chowder was awesome and the oysters Kilpatrick were really special. Having a free camp beside the hotel was brilliant. Thank you Dunalley Hotel!
Great pub. Very friendly staff. Food was delicious. Partner had the Porterhouse medium rare with Prawns topper which he loved. I had fish and chips which were really tasty too.
The food was so delicious and a very nice highlight to our holiday here in Tassie, the staff were very friendly and made our experience even more special. The kids play area was really helpful, since we have a 2 year old!!
Food is swell in Dunalley Hotel. Staff were very friendly! This incredible Hotel has been here for 158 years and deserves to be here for 158 more😁
Great pub. Well maintained and presented. (Only the loos could be better.) Fantastic for the meals with vegetables to actually be so lovely prepared and fresh vegetables rather than what most serve up!
This gem is definitely worth visiting. Other google reviews had us feeling hopeful, especially as there wasn’t much still open at 7pm on a Tuesday evening, and it didn’t disappoint. My friend and I had the Shroom Burger which was really delicious, and the decor with the log fire is very welcoming. The only downside was being close to the stereo speaker which was playing 80’s rock but I’m sure they would have turned it down if I had asked. Our server Sandy was friendly and checked in to see how we were going with our meal, and Danny at the bar was really welcoming too. We will be back for sure next time we’re in Tassie.
What a beautiful rural pub! Friendly service, great food, kid friendly, what more could you ask for
Exceptional- unbelievable oysters, crumbed squid, chowder, lemon tart with lemon sorbet - so unusual for me to give a good food review - that's how great the experience - and our wonderful waitress Sandy ( a gem)
Seafood Chowser and oysters were amazing. Sandy and Danny were so so welcoming.
Best seafood chowder in the southern hemisphere. Last night confirmed the boss's claim at the Dunalley Hotel, Tasmania. Mopped it up with warm rolls.Wifey had the beef pie, cracking choice also.
Thank you Danny and Sandy for an awesome dinner and making our night! So convenient, friendly and welcoming.
Exceptional staff, so good you thought they owed the business. Great meals and good value..highly recommend stopping at the free camping spot and having a feed
The most delicious home made vegan pumpkin gnocchi (vegetarian / dairy free) on our travels! Can’t believe it was vegan 😍Stacey was such a lovely host as well ☺️ thank you! We’ll be back 💃🏽
It was one of those iconic pubs to cross off the list and was not disappointed. We will be back and use the free camp behind the pub.

Hotel's History

The original Hotel was established in 1866 by John Clark, a prominent landowner and horse breeder in the region, but was destroyed by fire in 1891. A new two-storey hotel was designed by Hobart architect Robert Hickson which although the original footprint remains today, there have been significant renovations undertaken including the addition of a wooden verandah wrapping around two sides of the hotel. An interesting fact is that the original town morgue is located in the rear yard and is now used as a store.
